Join Ricky Tims and a group of Smart Phone photo enthusiasts from all over the world for an inspiring year of photo challenges. $129/year

This is a year-long series of challenges combined with 10 "lessons" for Smart Phone uses. There will be 52-Challenge topics issued, one each Sunday for the entire year.
The year begins with ten pre-recorded video lessons (first ten weeks). The rest of the year will be utilized meeting the weekly challenge topic and offering individual participant's comments and critiques.

The 2024 format will be follow the 2023 format - ten weeks of lessons (which will be essentially repeats as the lesson plan doesn't change) followed by 42 weeks of challenge-only topics.

New participants are welcome. It is not a pre-requisite that you have previously taken one of Ricky's Smart Phone photo classes.

BEFORE REGISTERING PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY.

It will be a requirement that each participant learn to use an EXIF editor and add their titles and captions to the images. Anonymous images will not be permitted and will be removed from the gallery. A class video will be issued on how to use an EXIF editor. EXIF information is metadata that is embedded into the photo file. When uploaded, that information (title and caption) appears in the gallery for others to see/read.

The class uses full names - not nicknames. Titles for images must be present with First/Last Name, plus the challenge topic - for example...RickyTims-Leaves. Titles such as "Fall Leaving in the Park" or "Pretty Poppies" can be added in your caption.

CRITIQUES
This 52 Week offering is primarily a challenge/participation endeavor. The "hybrid' aspect is that the first ten weeks are "lessons". For the first ten sessions, Ricky will offer formal critiques on 10-12 submissions. Only once during the first ten sessions will all images receive a comment. A record is not kept of who receives a critique and who does not. Critique images are selected based on that challenge's submissions and what positive aspect should be noted. Negative remarks that are noteworthy will be brought forward. They are intended to teach, not to discourage. Critiques also include comments on the positives. Still, it is critical to have a thick skin when something not so favorable is mentioned. Negative remarks are never intended to personal or hurtful. Ricky may find small nit-picks and offer suggestions. It is vital that each person be prepared, prior to registration, to self-evaluate their own images based on the few critiqued images. Once the first ten session are completed, formal critiques will end. Ricky will then participate by submitting images and adding comments as a regular group participant.

SCHEDULE 
The first challenge will begin Sunday, December 31, 2023. Each week, participants have one week to submit the challenge image before the cut-off deadline which is the following Sunday night at midnight.

There are no LIVE sessions. The ten pre-recorded video session will post and participants may review them at their convenience during that week. 

This is a participation/challenge group. Participants are urged to comment on a few images each week. It is not a requirement to comment on all images.

Ricky participates by posting images and adding a few comments as well. Ricky's formal formal critiques will only be provided during the first ten lessons.

Your Smart Phone
Technology continues to improve. Later model phones provide better quality images. However, there is no requirement regarding the age of your smart phone.

You will need WiFi connection to access the challenges. The ten video lessons are not downloaded - they are streamed. You have access to all lessons, videos, information, and links forever.

This course runs 52-Weeks - the entire year 2024.

•Old photos are never allowed. All submissions must be taken during the week of the photo challenge. NO EXCEPTIONS.

How does the class share images?

The lessons are presented at www.photoclassforyou.com but they are shared on a photo sharing site called Smugmug.com. Students are provided with a unique upload link each week. The images are uploaded to a gallery at Smugmug.com. You do not have to have a Smugmug account to upload images or to view the images and participate in the class and view the images. However, you will need to login to Smugmug to interact and add a comment on someone else's image. This will be explained in more detail during class.

Who Can Comment?

This is an interactive class and everyone should attempt to review the submissions of their classmates and add comments. However, in order to protect from spammers, Smugmug.com only allows comments when visitors are logged in to Smugmug (not to www.photoclassforyou.com). You can log in to Smugmug using either:

     1. Your own Smugmug account (minimum $40 per year - and, I feel, worth the price) - NOT necessary or required for this class.

     2. Login via Facebook account - recommended

     3. Login via Google account - also recommended

TERMS OF SERVICE: 

PERMISSION BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER/STUDENT FOR ALL OF THEIR SUBMITTED IMAGES IS AUTOMATICALLY GRANTED TO RICKY TIMS TO BE USED IN A POTENTIAL MEMORY BOOK AND OTHER PROMOTIONS (ONLINE, PRINT, or VIDEO) AS THEY RELATED TO PHOTOCLASSFORYOU.COM. 

What is my commitment?

This is a 52-Week Challenge - will you rise to the challenge and submit one photo for all 52-Weeks? The time commitment varies from week to week, but in most cases, your ability to meet the challenge can be done as you go about life with a Smart Phone within arms reach at all times.

What if I miss a submission?
There is no requirement to submit a photo. Ricky does not keep a list of who is and who is not submitting. There is not a grade given. You will determine your own level of commitment.

What happens to these challenges in the future?

You will forever be able to login and access the challenges and everything associated with this endeavor. If you find you have to take a break from the challenges, but would like to review these on your own in the future, they will always be there for you to login and access under your My Classes tab. The My Classes tab only appears when you are logged in to www.photoclassforyou.com.
